GoDaddy’s Websites and Marketing builder does not give you access to the page head. It does let you add custom code as a section on a page, and for structured data that is enough. This guide is about the difference.
Adding the code
Open your site editor and go to the page you want it on. The homepage is the one this check reads, so start there.
Add a section, and search the section types for HTML. It is a standard section rather than a hidden setting.
Paste the structured data into the Custom Code field. Include the
<script>tags exactly as the Fix Pack gives them.Publish. The section renders nothing visible, so the page looks unchanged.
Share previews: check before you paste
Share preview tags are different from structured data, and this is the one place on GoDaddy where the missing head matters. Link previews read these tags from the head of each page, and an HTML section puts them in the body, where most previews ignore them. So do not paste the share tags file into a section.
See what a shared link shows today. Paste one page address into LinkedIn's Post Inspector. If a title, a description and a picture appear, that page is handled.
Improve what the preview is built from. Give each page a clear title and description in your SEO settings, as the titles guide for GoDaddy shows, and put a strong photo near the top of the page.
If a page still shows nothing, there is no box on this builder that fixes it, and we would rather say so. GoDaddy support can tell you whether your site plan writes share tags, and it is worth knowing when you next choose where to build.
Business details
Your business name, address and phone number live in your site’s profile information in the builder settings, where its contact sections read them. The business details file publishes the same facts, and your opening hours, as structured data.
Fill every capitalised slot, or delete that line. Copy the phone number and address exactly as your site profile has them.
Add it to your homepage the same way as the structured data above: an HTML section, with the code in Custom Code. Unlike share tags, structured data is read wherever it appears in the page.
Publish, then check it with the Rich Results Test described below.
The viewport tag
Nothing to do, and nothing you could do. GoDaddy serves a responsive site with a viewport tag on every page. A readability finding here will be about something else, and the technical detail on the finding names it.
The footer contact block
Use the footer settings in the editor rather than the HTML section. Enter your business name, phone number and the towns you cover as ordinary text so they appear on every page. What the check wants is those details readable as text, not that specific markup.
Checking it worked
Publish, load your homepage, view source and search for application/ld+json. Then run the address through Google's Rich Results Test.
If your screens do not look like this, the wording has moved rather than the setting. Search your platform for the words in bold above. If you still cannot find it, send us the scan link and we will tell you where it is on your setup.
