The Websites and Marketing builder gives you the title and description and the photo descriptions, and decides the rest itself. This guide covers what you can change and says plainly where the builder does not offer a setting.
If your site is WordPress hosted at GoDaddy rather than built in their builder, the WordPress guide is the one you want.
The title and summary
Edit Website.
Go to Settings, then SEO Settings. The builder walks through your homepage first and then offers to optimise another page.
For each page, give it a title that says what it offers and where, between 30 and 60 characters, and a description of one or two sentences.
Publish.
Page names are set separately: in the site navigation panel, hover over the page and choose Settings. Two pages called Home, or two with the same title, is the commonest cause of this finding on GoDaddy.
A page hidden from search engines
Turning off a page’s navigation toggles hides it from your menus, not from search engines. We could not find a setting in this builder that hides a page from search engines, so if the finding says one of your pages is hidden, GoDaddy support is the route to switching it back.
Headings
The builder sets heading levels from the section: a section title is a heading and the text under it is not, and you can style header and sub-header text but not choose its level. So when the finding names a page with more than one main heading, look for a second section whose title repeats the page’s purpose, and fold the two together.
Describe your photos
Select the image in the editor.
Write what it shows in the Image Description box. That is the image’s alt text.
The SEO tool may offer to write alt text for you. Read what it suggests before accepting: a keyword list is not a description of a photo.
The site language
We could not find a site language setting in the builder’s help. If the finding says your pages declare no language, or the wrong one, ask GoDaddy support to set it, and send them the finding.
Checking it worked
Publish, open the page, view its source and search for <title>, name="description" and lang=. Then re-run your scan.
